Part 6 – Reaching communities
TB is a serious, treatable illness that has been increasing across the nation.
Compounded by persistent stigma and misinformation, this trend threatens to undermine our national efforts to eliminate the disease. Successfully controlling TB requires a system-wide, integrated approach. This requires the involvement of service providers already known and trusted by the communities most affected by the illness, but who may lack the knowledge to address TB.
This training is designed for
- Secure and migrant health settings – prisons, asylum accommodation, immigration removal centres
- Accommodation settings – those working in hotels, hostels, night shelters, refuges, houses of multiple occupation
- Community groups and services – workers in drug and alcohol services, local authority frontline services, voluntary sector frontline service providers, faith groups, community groups
This training is designed to improve TB awareness, overcome barriers to care and strengthen social support across the entire TB pathway.

“Every Contact Counts”
Every interaction with your community is an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and signpost people to get tested. You don’t need to be an expert — you just need to be ready to start the conversation.
TB Alert
TB Alert is the UK’s leading TB charity, working with communities, health services and voluntary organisations to end TB. This course is produced in partnership with The Truth About TB
